On the Matter of Spam

Postby webmaster » Wed Mar 04, 2009 1:01 am

Please direct all comments, suggestiongs, ect. here. If it's in another topic, even if it's in response to spam in that topic, I'm just going to delete it to keep the topics on track.

To stopgap the flood of bots, I'm going to put a ban on gmail accounts used to register. This shouldn't affect any currently registered people.

Block new users

Might i suggest that the ability to register as a new user temporarily be blocked.

The spam is a bit out of control, and makes it difficult to find legitimate new posts. I would suggest posting the email of the webmaster so that anyone legitimately looking to make a new account might contact that individual through that means and get set up.

The spam is out of hand. Who is in charge of these boards?

I'm trying to set that up, but the option is not where it was in PHPBB 2 so I'm still fiddling.
